I have yet to see a single situation in which taking bold, decisive action has led to a truly, permanently bad outcome.
That’s held true across not just my own experiences, but those of thousands of lives & stories that I’ve examined in depth. It’s held true for every entrepreneur I’ve met who’s made at least $1M, it’s held true for the baristas who’ve made my coffee, and it’s almost definitely going to hold true for you too.
Whether it’s starting a business, increasing your prices, hiring that new manager, bringing on a consultant, going after the girl or finally going on that world tour you always wanted to take. As long as you pay attention and act with purpose, there’s a 0% chance that you don’t end up in a better situation when taking a risk.
Here’s why:
Whatever you’re trying to avoid is still there.
What’s even worse? You’ll never know for sure how things would have turned out if you tried…
Fear is one of those funny emotions. Sometimes it keeps us safe - as in, maybe don’t run into the woods on the night of a full moon wearing a suit made out of steaks. (I don’t care what Stephenie Meyer says. That’s a surefire way to get eaten by a werewolf.)
Most of the time though, especially in the modern world, it only holds us back and keeps us from realizing our full potential.
We’re afraid of standing out, so we don’t even try.
We’re afraid of what other people MIGHT say, so we never talk about what we do.
We’re afraid of change, and so we never do.
We’re afraid of who we might be once we find the success we’re after, so we trap ourselves in a cycle of failure - an unending cascade of poverty, despair, hope, excitement & more despair.
It’s not that we don’t try at all - in fact, we constantly fool ourselves into believing that we do.
We build new websites, new brochures, new logos, new sales docs, new drawings… And we never show them to anyone.
We change the colors, the banners, the headlines, the logos, the wording… And we never show them to anyone.
And on, and on, and on.
In the end, it’s quite selfish actually.
Let’s get deep for a minute. This level of fear isn’t really about other people. It’s about you and your unwillingness to confront the true nature of the world - that not only does nobody care until you give them a reason to, they’re too wrapped up in their own heads to even pay attention to what you’ve got going on.
What’s more, it’s an excuse for you to NOT help the people who so desperately need it - so much so, they’re literally asking for help.
It shows in the actions they take - the guides & articles they download, the groups they join, the events they go to, the things they say and the things left unsaid. In essence, these people WANT your help - the question is, how can you best provide it?
That’s what you learn when you take bold, decisive action.
You learn how to raise your prices.
You learn who exactly needs your help.
You learn what they ACTUALLY need help with (not just what you think they need help with).
You learn the truth. What really would have happened, if you just tried.
And if it turns out bad for a little bit? If your fears were proven right?
Then you learn that you blew them out of proportion.
You learn what NOT to do for next time.
And…
You learn what you’re really capable of.
